Deliverance By Rev. Dustin D. Bowman
With the process of deliverance, I have found that it is a battle of “will.” There are 4 “wills” that a person can fall into (John 1:13). The will of the flesh is that of a person’s carnal nature. The will of the person’s mind would be what they want to do themselves. There is the will of God. Lastly, we fight against the will of the demon spirit and influences. The demonized must choose whose “will” they will follow (Matthew 6:24). It is impossible to be pleasing to God if we are not willing to follow him.
During deliverance, the goal is to help the person to “switch” sides. They must verbally, out loud, renounce the sin that is associated with the spirit that is attacking them (i.e. witchcraft, pornography, sexual molestation). They must be willing to turn against the sin that allowed the root of demonizing through repentance.
If the sin-root were something that they personally did, then they must seek forgiveness of God. If it were a sin that was perpetuated against them then they must seek to forgive the person that harmed them to destroy the sin-root. Un-forgiveness is a major root allows demons to terrorize.
